The Diploma in Hotel Management program spans three years, with each year divided into two semesters. In total, there are six semesters over the three years.

The program is structured as follows: The first year focuses on the foundation and disciplinary subjects, with a core emphasis on room division, including theoretical, demonstration, and practical aspects. The second year includes disciplinary subjects, covering room division and food and beverage. In the third year, students go deeper into disciplinary subjects and apply their learned skills and knowledge during an internship.

This program aims to produce middle-level human resources for the hotel and catering industry. The program’s objectives include applying professional knowledge and skills, developing positive attitudes, critical thinking for problem-solving, understanding organizational structures, adhering to quality standards, and promoting entrepreneurship in small-sized enterprises.

 A minimum of 80% attendance is required in each subject to appear in the respective final examination. Instructors must hold a master’s degree in the related field of teaching, and teachers should be master’s degree holders as well.

Teaching methods in this program include illustrated lectures, tutorials, group discussions, demonstrations, simulations, practical experiences, fieldwork, internships, report writing, term paper presentations, tutoring, role-playing, and independent learning.

Student’s overall achievement is measured through a grading system, ranging from Distinction to Pass, based on their aggregate percentage in final semester examinations.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students are awarded the “Diploma in Hotel Management” certificate by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training.

To be eligible for this program, students should have secured at least a grade C in Compulsory Mathematics, Compulsory English, and Compulsory Science in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination from a recognized academic institution.

They may be eligible for positions equivalent to non-gazetted 1st class/level 5 (technical) as per the Public Service Commission of Nepal. In 2013, CTEVT developed its own curriculum to adapt to changing healthcare needs and government policies. The PCL nursing program aims to produce skilled nursing professionals who can contribute to the country’s economic development and meet the national healthcare needs.

The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including basic sciences applied to nursing, community health nursing, medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, and gerontology care. It emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure that graduates are well-prepared to deliver quality nursing care.

Completing the PCL nursing program opens up various employment opportunities in both public and private sectors. Graduates can work as registered nurses, or nursing supervisors, or pursue further studies in nursing to advance their careers.

4. Civil Engineering

The Diploma in Civil Engineering program is designed to meet the country’s demand for skilled middle-level technical workers in the field of civil engineering. This program spans three years, divided into six semesters. Each year has two semesters, with each semester lasting about 19.5 academic weeks, including evaluation periods. The program ensures a minimum of 15 weeks of teaching and learning in each semester.

To be eligible for this program, students should have secured at least a grade C in Compulsory Mathematics and Compulsory Science, as well as a grade D+ in English in their School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination from a recognized academic institution.

Admission is based on the submission of the SLC or equivalent certificate and passing an entrance examination administered by CTEVT. Applicants meeting the entry criteria are selected on a merit basis.

The curriculum is structured to cover a wide range of subjects and skills required in civil engineering. The six-semester program includes foundational subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as language subjects like Nepali and English for effective communication. 

Students are required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in both theory and practical (lab) components. They must also achieve at least 40% in the internal assessment and the final semester examination for each subject to pass each semester.

Graduates from this program are well-equipped with skills in drawing, surveying, estimation, and supervision of various civil engineering works. They can find employment opportunities in government departments such as roads, irrigation, communication, and private construction companies. The program opens the door to positions equivalent to 1st class (technical), such as Civil Sub-engineer, as prescribed by the Public Service Commission of Nepal. To be eligible, students should have passed SEE with a minimum of a C grade in Compulsory Mathematics and Science and a D+ in English, or have a TSLC in Computer Engineering with a minimum of 67.00%. Admission is based on the results of an entrance examination administered by CTEVT.

Eligibility Required and Career Opportunities in the CTEVT Course 

In Nepal, SEE-appeared candidates are eligible for the 18-month program. For diploma programs, students need a minimum GPA of 2 with a “C” grade in English, Math, and Science for Health subjects.
